At SCVH, we believe that regular blood work and urinalysis is one of the best tools we have to detect early signs of disease. We recommend a yearly blood panel for all of our patients, especially those over 7 years of age, to give us the opportunity to see early signs of disease and head off problems. For sick patients, blood work is a very good way to monitor the progression of disease and we often base medical decisions on the results. Laboratory tests are sent to a veterinary diagnostic lab, and results are generally available in 1-2 days. Biopsy and cytology results are usually available in 3-5 business days.
