General Practice
Wellness Exams
At SCVH, each comprehensive wellness exam includes the following:
• Evaluating your pet's overall alertness, mobility, and body condition
• Listening to the heart to evaluate rate and rhythm, and to the lungs for quality of breath sounds
• Checking eyes for proper pupil responses, evidence of retinal changes and general brightness
• Examining ears to view the condition of the ear canal and ear drum
• Checking for dental disease such as gingivitis
• Palpating or feeling the abdomen and lymph nodes for proper size and texture and assessing any pain
• Palpating joints to evaluate for pain or arthritis
• Evaluating the condition of skin and coat for hydration, allergies or fleas
• Examining cells under the microscope to determine cell type
We will suggest blood analysis for early detection of diseases in all ages of pets. These tests enable us to diagnose potential diseases before they become a serious issue.
