What a Brave Cat!
"Max" was brought to the emergency service one night recently with an arrow passed through his ear and part of his head, and we were able to remove it, clean the wound and send him home to a happy life! We are glad he's doing well. Click here to read more.

Cruz's Story:
Cruz is a large black and tan male that is approx 1.5 YO. This boy was picked up as a stray by the Santa Cruz Animal Services. When he was evaluated, his right front leg was atrophied and unusable. This condition did not stop him from being friendly and out-going to people and other dogs.

GSRNC got involved in his plight. The dog was X-rayed and it was discovered that the leg had been broken and repaired with a pin. However, the pin had moved causing injury to the joint. With cooperation between Animal Services, GSRNC and the Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital the pin was removed. The orthopedic doctor at SCVH placed an external fixator on the leg which will be removed when fully healed.

Cruz is recovering and enjoying life with his foster family in Santa Cruz. This dog continues to be soft, loving, out-going and responsive to all who come into his world. The dog is house trained, crate trained and rides nicely in the car. Cruz even took part in a Halloween parade with 40 other dogs and many humans. He had a wonderful time and was not stressed with all of the activity. This dog will make an active couple or family a terrific companion.
