Specialty Referral Practice: Oncology
Melanoma Cancer Vaccine is now available through the oncology service at SCVH. The vaccine has been proven to extend survival time in dogs treated for oral melanoma. Please call the referral coordinator or Dr. Stone for more information. Click here for the vaccine details and studies.
The oncology practice at SCVH is multi-faceted. During the initial consultation, the doctor will review your pet's medical record and diagnostics completed. They will then talk with you about your pet's history and examine your pet. We provide advanced diagnostics (ultrasound, CT scan, MRI) to help determine the extent of your pet's cancer and to provide the best possible treatment plans. Your pet's cancer treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a combination of these options. We believe that your family veterinarian is an important part of your pet's healthcare team, and should be kept up to date on all advancements.
Oncology Appointments – Initial appointments are 60 minutes in length to allow a thorough examination of your pet and discussion with you. Progress exams are usually 30 minutes in length. To schedule an appointment, please call our referral coordinator or client service team. For all initial appointments, you should bring all medical records, lab work, x-rays, and medications with you.
